Four-and-a-half years after it came out, Dawn of War 2 - Retribution has new DLC.
Sega announced the Ridiculously Bloody Blood Pack for Relic's superb Warhammer 40,000 real-time strategy game Dawn of War 2 - Retribution and released it on Steam in the same day. Surprise!
The pack, which costs £1.59/$1.99/€1.99, significantly increases the frequency and size of the in-game blood effects - just in time for Halloween.
Here's the official blurb:
- Watch in awe as Space Marines explode into a shower of blood upon projectile impacts that would make even Wes Craven wince. Gasp as resized and enlarged blood effects create rivers of red all over the screen that make the Crazy 88 scene in Kill Bill look like the aftermath of mild toe surgery. Did we mention the blood? There's loads of it. So much in fact, it makes Patrick Bateman's apartment look like the scene of a nasty papercut. Are we making ourselves clear?
Sounds suitably grim! But Relic issued a warning: "This content is EXTREMELY bloody which can affect battle visibility when in combat." You can turn the blood effect off from the Steam library."
There's a trailer, below.
So, what's Relic doing releasing new DLC for Dawn of War 2? Well, in recent months it's dipped back into its Dawn of War series, rekindling memories of the franchise - and raising hopes for a new entry.
In September Relic made Dawn of War free to play on Steam for a weekend, and created and released a brand new multiplayer map for the 11-year-old Dawn of War 1. It also gave away four free sets of Wargear for use in the Dawn of War 2 campaign.
