EA removes player accused of sexual assault from NHL 16 cover

Kane is out, Toews stays in.

EA Sports has changed the cover of NHL 16 to remove Chicago Blackhawks Right Wing Patrick Kane following the athlete's recent rape allegation.

The publisher stated on Twitter that "In light of the ongoing investigation involving Patrick Kane, he will no longer be a spokesperson for the launch of EA Sports NHL 16. He will not appear on the EA Sports NHL 16 cover, nor will he participate in other EA Sports NHL 16 promotional activities."

The cover, which initially featured Kane with Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews, will now just features Toews on his own, like so:

Kane was accused of sexual assaulting a woman in his Hamburg, New York home after picking her and a friend up at a night club in Buffalo on 1st August. The story was first reported by Buffalo News where local law enforcement is investigating the matter.

Details are still mum at this point as police are still examining the case, but sources close to the investigation have told The News that the victim had bite marks upon entering the hospital immediately after staying with Kane.

As of this time, Kane has not been charged with a crime.

Further details on the case can be found at Buffalo News.
