Torment: Tides of Numenera video shows off The Ninth World

Unlike any other.

InXile Entertainment has just released a new video showing off in-development story-driven classic role-playing game Torment: Tides of Numenera.

Torment was successfully crowdfunded by inXile, raising an impressive $4.1m from just shy of 75,000 backers.

Tides of Numenera is billed as a spiritual successor to Black Isle Studios' 1999 cult classic RPG Planescape: Torment, but is set in Monte Cook's tabletop role-playing world, Numenera.

The video, below, features the game's fantasy environments, all set in "The Ninth World", as well as snippets of combat.

InXile has a lot on its plate at the moment, with a console version of Wasteland 2 in the works, as well as a Kickstarter for The Bard's Tale 4 set to launch next month.

Torment still has a fourth quarter 2015 release window. InXile boss Brian Fargo recently told Eurogamer a beta version or Steam Early Access version of the game will be released late summer, with a launch proper determined based on that.

Back in February Bertie took a look at Torment and it left him excited indeed.
