Shovel Knight tunnels to Xbox One next week

Dig deep.

Side-scrolling 2D platformer Shovel Knight will launch for Xbox One next week, Microsoft has announced.

The indie favourite launches this week on PlayStation 3, PS4 and Vita, and has been available since last year on PC, Mac, 3DS and Wii U.

Microsoft mouthpiece Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb revealed the news via Twitter last night:

"The game has a light, fresh appeal, even for those who never played 16-bit platform games the first time around," Simon Parkin wrote in Eurogamer's Shovel Knight PC review.

"It skewers the old publisher lie that only the latest, loudest, most technologically accomplished video games are worthwhile. There is gold in these old genres, and Shovel Knight is a successful dig."
