Nintendo's January and February Amiibo waves are already selling out

Nintendo's January and February waves of Amiibo figurines have already begun selling out - before the toys are anywhere near shop shelves.

King Dedede, Meta Knight and Shulk - not due to launch until the fourth Amiibo wave hits the UK on 20th February - are already marked as "sold out" on Nintendo's UK store.

First wave figures Donkey Kong, Yoshi, Marth, Villager and Wii Fit Trainer are sold out too, as is second wave figure Little Mac.

On Amazon, Donkey Kong, Peach, Yoshi and Zelda are completely sold out.

Pikachu is sold out but available from a third-party seller for £17.02, as is Kirby for £18.89, Wii Fit Trainer for £31.99, Marth for £39.99 and Villager for an eye-opening £55.99.

Newer wave figures Captain Falcon and Luigi are sold out, also.

It's unclear whether shortages of the figures are due to high demand or simply low stock shipments for some characters.

"Nintendo of Europe would like to confirm that supplies of Amiibo are currently available in the European market. Amiibo have been very popular at launch and as such its always possible that a few retailers may have sold out," a company spokesperson explained.

"We are continually aiming to always have a regular supply of Amiibo brought into the marketplace and there are many waves of Amiibo to come."
