Resogun is heading to PlayStation Vita

Housemarque confirms news, details due soon.

Housemarque's PlayStation 4 shoot-'em-up Resogun is heading to PlayStation Vita.

According to a tweet from the Finnish developer, the port is being handled by UK-based Climax Studios and will be officially unveiled by publisher Sony in due course.

The confirmation tweet was presumably issued because a Sony employee let the news slip in a comment on the official PlayStation blog.

When PS4 launched, Resogun was arguably its best first-party game - a terrific modern take on arcade shooter Defender that saw players piloting a ship across beautiful voxel landscapes that looped back on themselves as though wrapped around the outside of a cylinder.

"Housemarque's not offering the shock of the new, perhaps - all of the developer's best ideas are actually reassuringly elderly - but it's working with energy, enthusiasm, precision and love," Christian Donlan wrote in our Resogun review. He was also a fan of the voxels, and it will be interesting to see how much of that sumptuous aesthetic Climax can preserve in the upcoming port.
