Andy Serkis, the actor best known as Golem in Lord of the Rings and King Kong in King Kong, has joined the cast of Volume, Mike Bithell's stealth-based follow-up to Thomas Was Alone.

Serkis will play Guy Gisborne, a "villainous CEO who runs England" in this futuristic retelling of the Robin Hood Legend. He will join YouTuber Charlie McDonnell as player character Rob Locksley and Thomas Was Alone narrator Danny Wallace as Alan, an AI companion.

This is far from Serkis' first foray into the exciting world of video game acting as he previously starred in Ninja Theory's Enslaved and Heavenly Sword.

Volume will be out next year on PS4 and Vita with a PC and Mac release to follow a month later.

Serkis has played a host of simian characters including King Kong, Caesar in the latest Planet of the Apes prequels, and Monkey in Enslaved.
