Lords of the Fallen - Guardian, goblets, dash attack, combo, melee, ranged

The next part of our Lords of the Fallen walkthrough covers how to kill the Guardian and dodge those flaming homing missiles.

There a few options available to you in this fight, and you're free to equip any armour and fight at any range you prefer. The only thing to really keep in mind is that the Guardian's damage is entirely fire-based - if you have a shield that can block all of this damage type, you're laughing. We grabbed the Harmony shield earlier on in this walkthrough, and equipped a pair of Lesser Fire Runes for this fight.

How to kill the Guardian

When the battle begins, you'll see parts of the enemy glow. Straight after this, homing missiles will come your way. If you're wearing light armour, just run around the battle arena to dodge these fireballs. In medium armour, dodge away from the first one, then start running. If you're wearing heavy armour you'll have to keep on dodging.

You can knock over those goblets and stop the missiles firing by charging at them, but the Guardian will eventually re-ignite it. Take this opportunity to dish out some damage to the boss while he's preoccupied. Just don't get too close to the goblet or you'll take explosive damage after it's been lit.

In close-quarters combat, expect the Guardian to make use of a double-hit combo comprised of two horizontal slices. It can be very difficult to avoid the second attack if you don't dodge the first, and unless you have very powerful equipment this may even be enough to wipe you out entirely.

Step backwards when you see the Guardian put his swords into the floor as this signifies that a kick is coming your way. He'll also swing around with his weapons immediately after lashing out, so either block or dodge away from this damage.

It's a much slower way to kill the creature, but you might consider using your Gauntlet to deliver all of your damage from range. Watch out for the dashing attack which he'll use to close distance on you, although even heavy armour wearers should find this quite easy to dodge. Just shoot your Gauntlet after each double-hit combo is attempted. When the boss drops, you'll be able to loot a Sealed Rune (Big) and a Firewalker weapon. Next up is Fire Golems, Empty Bottle, Sealed Runes and Tor.
