Super Smash Bros. character roster leaked - rumour

Allegedly features the dog from Duck Hunt.

A slew of allegedly leaked screenshots and gameplay videos have possibly revealed the full roster of characters in the upcoming Super Smash Bros. game.

As detailed on NeoGAF, images of the character select screen anonymously appeared on a 4chan thread least week. This in and of itself seemed rather sketchy, like it could be the work of any yahoo with slick Photoshop skills.

But then today gameplay videos emerged as well.

While the initial videos were taken down due to copyright issues, it's not hard to find them elsewhere. Plus NeoGAF has animated gifs of the leaked gameplay in motion and links to download the leaked videos.

The leaked footage shows Shulk from Xenoblade, Zelda antagonist Ganondorf, Bowser Jr., Lucina, Bowser, Kirby and Pikachu.

The footage isn't of the highest quality, but it's detailed enough to look legit and some of its telltale signs suggest that the earlier character select screen is on the level as well. For example, Bowser's codename here is also "ESRB0083" and Bowser Jr.'s clown car from the first set of leaked images (below) is in play in the footage.

If this character select screen is to be believed, that means we'll see characters like the dog from Duck Hunt alongside other yet-to-be revealed characters like Ness and R.O.B.

Furthermore, it's believed that this video is early footage sent to the US ratings board ESRB, as the name under Bowser's icon is the placeholder "ESRB0083." Evidently the ESRB doesn't actually play the games it rates, but rather looks at footage the developer submits of all its more questionable material. As such, it's speculated that this leak came straight out of someone at Nintendo.

We've followed up with Nintendo about this, but it declined to comment on the alleged leak, noting only that it had nothing to announce at this time.

Here are all the leaked pictures from three different sources. Unless it's the same source pretending to be three different people.
