Deus Ex writer returns with thriller meets card game Sienna Storm

Big names attached to Kickstarter.

Sheldon Pacotti, writer on Deus Ex and its sequel Invisible War, has launched a Kickstarter for an espionage thriller meets card game called Sienna Storm.

Pacotti has been building the game with Tony Evans, who worked on Knights of the Old Republic 2 and Neverwinter Nights 2, and Darrell Hardy, who worked on Magic the Gathering: Tactics.

The teaser video, below, incorporates art from the game. Each comic-style scene is hand drawn with multiple action points you can select to progress. There are dialogue trees and decisions to make.

Sienna Storm's action scenes use a card mechanic that, Pacotti told Eurogamer, is part character building, part looting and part strategy. At the start of each card match you modify your deck to best suit the situation.

The developers are focused on a PC version, but they'll make a Mac version if enough money is raised. Chris Avellone of Obsidian Entertainment fame is a stretch goal.

The Kickstarter is after $179,000.
