Tearaway is being retold on PS4 as Tearaway Unfolded

With platform-specific fourth wall-breaking features.

Tearaway is coming to PS4, developer Media Molecule announced at Sony's Gamescom press conference earlier today.

This might sound like an undesirable transition since much of Tearaway's charm came down to the fact that you were interacting with the papercraft world in your hand, right down to a virtual representation of your finger poking at it from behind via the Vita's rear touchpad. But Media Molecule is aware of this limitation, so it's found other ways of using the PS4's unique features to break the fourth wall.

As such, the player's finger has been replaced by gusts of wind controlled via the DualShock 4's touchpad. This way the game world will actually be set inside your TV, just as the Vita game was transpiring inside your handheld device.

Other cool PS4-exclusive features include the ability to use the DualShock 4's light bar as a flashlight, and sometimes your messenger companion will toss items out from the TV that land inside your controller and rattle around in there - a concept made more convincing due to the controller's speakers and vibration functionality.

Furthermore, Tearaway Unfolded will feature new areas, run in 1080p, and Media Molecule is targeting 60fps for the final release. Here's how it looks right now:
