Watch the trailer for ET documentary Atari: Game Over

Can you dig it?

Last year Microsoft announced that it would be producing a documentary about the excavation of ET and other rubbish Atari products buried in a New Mexico landfill. Now, that film has a trailer.

Dubbed Atari: Game Over, the film examines not only ET's successful excavation, but its creation along with why the people behind it were so confident it would be a success. The documentary is being directed by Zak Penn, who co-wrote The Avengers, X2, and is in the process of penning Pacific Rim 2.

Academy Award-winning producer Simon Chinn (Searching for Sugar Man and Man on Wire) and Emmy-winning producer Jonathan Chinn (FX's 30 Days and PBS's American High) are also on board through their multiplatform media company, Lightbox.

Atari: Game Over is one of the few projects to survive Xbox Entertainment Studios' recent closure, along with the Ridley Scott-produced TV series Halo: Nightfall. It will debut this autumn exclusively on Xbox 360, Xbox One and XboxVideo.com.
