Spinning limousine arcade adventure Roundabout release date set for September

Now coming to PS4 too.

Roundabout is one of the silliest games on the horizon and now it's coming to PS4 in addition to its already announced Xbox One, PC, Mac and Linux release. The computer versions are set for an 18th September launch on Steam and the Humble Store, while the PS4 and Xbox One versions are gunning for an early 2015 release.

For the uninitiated, Roundabout is the brainchild of ex-Twisted Pixel folks at new indie outfit No Goblin. The goofy game puts players in control of a perpetually spinning limousine and it's your job to guide your reckless vessel through the city escorting clients in the most stupidly dangerous manner possible.

Did I mention all the cutscenes are FMV?

Having played about 15 minutes of Roundabout at GDC, I was rather impressed with how mechanically polished it as. It might look like a vehicle-based variant on QWOP or Octodad, but it actually has really tight controls that make it more accessible and skill-based than you might expect.

When I spoke to No Goblin's Dan Teasdale in March he said explained that the studio decided to release on Xbox One because Microsoft offered to front the cost of Unity licenses. Speaking to Eurogamer today, he said that Sony approached him at PAX East offering the same thing. Teasdale also noted that he's aiming for a same week release on both Xbox One and PS4, but there's no guarantees at this point.

Roundabout is currently available for pre-order on its official site with a 20 per cent discount prior to release, making it $11.99 (about £7) instead of $14.99 (about £9). There's also a Deluxe Edition available for $15.99 (about £9.50) - and $19.99 (about £12) upon release - that adds a first-person mode called "Georgio Cam," along with a fully annotated FMV screenplay, a digital soundtrack, digital art book and early builds of the game.

You spin me right round baby, right round.
