Survival sim Gods Will Be Watching release date set this month

The walking almost dead.

Point-and-click survival sim Gods Will Be Watching is now set for a 24th July release on PC, Mac and Linux via Steam, the Humble Store and GoG.

The game will be priced at £6.99 / $9.99, but the Special Edition will cost double that and it comes with digital versions of the soundtrack, art book, and a 40-page comic from Dayjob Studio that functions as a prologue to the game. Pre-orders for both the standard and Special Editions are 10 per cent off.

Gods Will Be Watching began as a Ludum Dare entry where Spanish developer Deconstructeam made the prototype in 48 hours. It was so successful that the developer decided to launch an Indiegogo campaign to flesh it out into a full commercial release. This too was incredibly successful, so Hotline Miami publisher Devolver Digital offered to double whatever it raised from its crowdfunding campaign (€20,385) so it could publish the final product.

While the original game was limited to one screen as a group of stranded survivors braved the alien wilderness, this commercial release spans "six tense chapters that examine a multitude of mature themes ranging from hostage situations and wilderness survival to biological weapon prevention and agonizing torture scenarios."
