Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain E3 trailer releases early

Konami uploads then pulls it, still online elsewhere for now.

A little earlier than planned, here's the E3 trailer for Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain.

Konami uploaded this five-and-a-half minute video to its YouTube account this morning - apparently in error, as it was pulled offline quickly afterward.

But other versions still exist online - such as the one below. Be sure to crank it up to HD and watch in fullscreen for the full effect.

The trailer features tank battles, torture and some rather questionable funeral etiquette. Welcome to E3 week!

In a grisly opening scene, Snake stalks through a burned out village while a vulture pecks at human remains. The scene cuts to a funeral for Snake's fallen Diamond Dogs, whose cremated remains he smears across his face.

Quick shots then show combat in the desert and what looks like on an aircraft carrier. There are helicopters, knife fights, and some very bloody headshots.

"We'll make diamonds from their ashes, take them into battle with us," Snake growls. "A shining light to our brothers in arms, even in death. We are Diamond Dogs."
