LittleBigPlanet Vita dev reveals surreal PS4 adventure Hunger

Concept art suggests Botanicula by way of Delicatessen.

Tarsier Studios, the Swedish developer behind LittleBigPlanet Vita and Rag Doll Kung Fu: Fists of Plastic, has announced its upcoming PS4 project, Hunger.

The developer revealed the project on its official site where it announced that Hunger was just funded at this year's Nordic Game Conference, where the Nordic Game Program (which previously funded such titles as Limbo, Spin the Bottle and The Ball) offered to back the studio with €67K (about £54K).

Hunger is described as a "third-person 3D action adventure game with stealth and exploration elements." It will follow the exploits of a nine-year-old girl named Six who gets kidnapped and forced to work at an underwater resort called The Maw. Naturally, she'll break free of her days of servitude and uncover "a glimpse at the corrupt heart of modern happiness."

We don't know much about how it will play, but the early concept art below is certainly evocative, bringing to mind Botanicula by way of Delicatessen.

Tarsier became a first-party developer for Sony Computer Entertainment back in 2010. When asked in a comment if Hunger would come to PS4 and Vita, the developer responded, "We are currently aiming to make it a downloadable title for PS4." The Vita wasn't mentioned, but who knows what the future will bring.
