Games with Gold is getting Dust: An Elysian Tail tomorrow

Followed by Saints Row: The Third.

Microsoft's Games with Gold program is adding indie platformer Dust: An Elysian Tail and open-world action comedy Saints Row: The Third to its roster of free offerings for Xbox 360 users with Xbox Live Gold subscriptions.

Dust: An Elysian Tail will be available from 1st - 16th May, while Saints Row: The Third is set to replace it from 16th - 31st May.

Dust was mostly developed by a single man, Dean Dodrill. Despite this minuscule team size, the fantasy adventure launched to critical acclaim in August 2012. "Dust does many things well, but it doesn't do anything brilliantly," wrote Eurogamer contributor Rich Stanton in his Dust: An Elysian Tale review. "The combat's decent, the structure invites the revisiting of old areas, and the narrative stays interesting. Taken together, these things are enough to keep you plugging away till the end."

Saints Row: The Third launched way back in November 2011 where it was well received by the community, though our Dan Whitehead found it a rather iterative successor to Saints Row 2. "It's still a cynical slice of dirty fun, but the most damning aspect of Saints Row: The Third is that where the all-important lulz are concerned, there's precious little here that you couldn't already do in Saints Row 2," he wrote in his Saints Row: The Third review. This didn't stop him from recommending it anyway. For a free bonus game, it seems worth taking a punt on.
