The Xbox One updates keep on coming

Blu-ray! Controller update! Silent reboot!

Microsoft has revealed a few new features it plans to add to the Xbox One in the next system update.

The first concerns Blu-ray player support. The update will add 50Hz video output for content recorded at 50Hz, and the Blu-ray player app will be updated to reflect the improvements.

The second revolves around firmware updates for the controller and headset adaptor. These will reduce audio static and improve wireless connectivity, Microsoft said.

And finally, the update will add a silent reboot after system updates. So, if your console is in Instant On mode, the update will happen automatically and return to standby after it's completed. Microsoft said this means you won't need to power on your console after an update.

An option will also be added to the Xbox One system settings if you want to take future updates when they're available without waiting for your console to do it on its own.

These features are being pushed to members of the Xbox One preview program.

There's more on the April Xbox One update here. Yesterday Microsoft announced an update to the Xbox One YouTube app that lets you share DVR clips to your channel. An update to allow the support of external storage is coming soon, Microsoft has said.
