The Long Dark's glorious first in-game screenshots revealed

Apocalypse wow!

Successfully Kickstarted survival sim The Long Dark has premiered its first in-game screenshots since its gameplay prototype video was released during its crowdfunding campaign last October.

The early footage looked good already, but these new screens are something else. It's a lot more colourful and detailed than expected given that developer Hinterland's core team is only six strong. Granted it's got outside contributors pitching in, like Jennifer "FemShep" Hale lending her dulcet tones to the game.

Developer Hinterland may be a new and relatively small indie outfit, but its crew has some serious cred with key devs from Far Cry 3, God of War, Mass Effect, Saints Row, League of Legends, The Unfinished Swan, Sly Cooper and Warhammer 40K: Space Marine in its ranks.

The Long Dark smashed through its $200K Canadian goal with $256,217 CAD last autumn. It's expected to launch this October on PC, Mac and Linux.
