Titanfall runs into problems on PC with error 503

UPDATE: Problems solved. EA apologises.

UPDATE: Respawn has sorted out the problems that were affecting Titanfall on PC.

"Our team has resolved the PC connectivity issues and you should now be able to connect to matchmaking servers," read a tweet.

We've verified that the game is working on PC now.

In a tweet EA chief operating officer Peter Moore apologised for the outage, blaming it on a database server issue.

ORIGINAL STORY: Titanfall isn't working well on PC at all right now.

Users are reporting that Origin, publisher EA's PC game platform, is throwing up errors, such as the following: "Disconnect: ORIGIN error retrieving player data from storage - code 503".

Digital Foundry has also encountered the problem, which has left Titanfall, which requires the internet to work, unplayable.

Developer Respawn has acknowledged the issue, and set up a help page on EA's website to provide more information.

"Titanfall is currently experiencing connection problems, which means you may not be able to connect to online play, or even might get dropped from an online match you're currently playing," reads a message.

"Rest assured that we're addressing this problem and will provide updates as soon as possible.

"Thank you for your patience. Please stay tuned to this article for more information."

Titanfall launched on Xbox One and PC last night in North America - and it didn't take long for Xbox Live to throw up errors of its own.

"Looks like Xbox live sign in is down currently," Respawn boss Vince Zampella tweeted. "I hope that isn't our fault!"

Microsoft appears to have fixed the issue, which Zampella later said wasn't related to Titanfall - good news for UK gamers awaiting the game's launch on these shores at midnight Thursday.
