Call of Duty: Ghosts Onslaught DLC out end of January

UPDATE: Contains four maps and starts the episodic Extinction story arc.

UPDATE: Activision has confirmed that Onslaught's 28th January release is exclusive to Xbox Live, of course.

Furthermore, it's detailed exactly what the add-on entails. Onslaught will include four new multiplayer maps, the all-new Maverick dual-purpose Assault Rifle/Sniper Rifle, and the first episode in the four-part alien-based Extinction story arc, Nightfall.

Featuring two new characters and a couple of new species of alien, Nightfall is set in the Alaskan wilderness where soldiers are tasked with eliminating an extra-terrestrial menace. It's said to contain a three-story tall monster, so look out for that.

The new maps include: Fog, a slightly smallish stage set in a misty mire; BayView, a smaller battlefield comprised of a California boardwalk; Containment, another smaller map set along a South American dry river bed; and Ignition, a stage set around a Florida space facility where players can trigger rocket launches on their enemies.

Each of Call of Duty: Ghosts' DLC packs will be priced at $14.99 (about £9), or can be purchased at a reduced price by buying the season pass for $49.99 (about £30).

ORIGINAL STORY: The Call of Duty: Ghosts downloadable add-on Onslaught launches on 28th January, Infinity Ward has announced.

Onslaught is the first of four downloadable map packs for the shooter due out this year.

The video below, was published through the Call of Duty Instagram account, and show a different spin on the Call of Duty formula.

Publisher Activision is yet to reveal the platform release schedule for Onslaught, but, as is Call of Duty DLC tradition, expect it to launch on Xbox consoles before all others.
