Rayman Legends is coming to PS4 and Xbox One in February

Will the Wii U version no longer rule them all?

Spectacularly beautiful platformer Rayman Legends is coming to PS4 and Xbox One in February, Ubisoft has announced.

Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot nonchalantly mentioned in a financial call today that "Rayman next-gen is coming in February." After following up with the publisher we've received confirmation that this is indeed Rayman Legends on both PS4 and Xbox One he's referring to.

At one point Rayman Legends was announced as a Wii U-exclusive. Then it was postponed so it could come out for Xbox 360, PS3, Vita and PC as well. Ubisoft arguably made this up to Wii U owners by including exclusive daily challenges for Nintendo's platform and delivering what Digital Foundry contributor David Bierton called "the definitive version of the game."

"It's clear that the Wii U offers up the definitive version of the game as imagined by its creators, and does so by introducing GamePad-exclusive mechanics that are well thought out and that never feel like cheap gimmicks," he wrote in his Rayman Legends Face-Off. Will this hold true once the PS4 and Xbox One get their own versions of Rayman's latest adventure, too?

It sounds like any version you get will be a winner though as our Dan Whitehead loved the limbless wonder's latest to pieces and called it "one of the greatest platform games of this - or any - year" in his Rayman Legends review.

As mentioned during our earnings call today, we're planning to release Rayman Legends for the PS4 and the Xbox One in February," a Ubisoft spokesperson told Eurogamer. "We will have more information to share on this at a later date."
