BBC "working to bring" iPlayer to Xbox One

App will launch "in the future", but no date set yet.

The BBC has confirmed it is working on an iPlayer app for Xbox One, just days after Microsoft left the service off its list of entertainment apps arriving alongside the system on 22nd November.

Microsoft's shiny new console will launch with 20 entertainment apps in the UK, Microsoft stated last week. But BBC iPlayer won't be one of them despite the catch-up service already being available on Xbox 360.

"iPlayer is already available to audiences on over 1000 devices and platforms in the UK," a Beeb spokesperson told Digital Spy. "While we are working to bring BBC iPlayer to Xbox One in the future, we have no further details to share at this time."

ITV Player and Sky Player will also miss the Xbox One launch in the UK, although 4OD and 5 on Demand will be present.

Amazon LoveFilm, blinkbox, Crackle, Eurosport, Machinima, MUZU TV, Netflix, Now TV, TED, Twitch and Wuaki.tv are also scheduled to be available.
