Watch PS4 launch title Killzone: Shadow Fall played via Vita

Guerrilla demos Remote Play.

Killzone: Shadow Fall has been demoed using PlayStation 4's Remote Play feature, which enables you to stream games to PlayStation Vita and play them away from the TV, Wii U-style.

Shadow Fall director Steven ter Heide has posted a video on Twitter of Guerrilla Games boss Hermen Hulst trying out the feature.

Unfortunately he only posted the video in 240p.

Still, from what we can make out it looks like the PS4's streaming features - developed using Gaikai technology - have no noticeable lag.

Digital Foundry's Richard Leadbetter offered us the following:

"This is the first opportunity we've had to see Vita Remote Play in the context of both screens being in the same shot, giving us a rough indication of the latencies involved. It's far from ideal - to get accurate measurements you'd really want a 60fps video (at least), and this is only 30fps, but it's better than nothing.

"Based on muzzle flashes from the rifle, we get a fairly consistent pattern of the same image appearing one frame later on the Vita screen, suggesting a one or two frame latency. However, what we don't know is the input lag on the screen itself. Another aspect worth factoring in is that Vita Remote Play supports two modes - a direct PS4 to Vita hook-up, along with a second mode where traffic is sent via the router, which could result in varying results.

"Suffice to say that this is one of the most eagerly awaited PS4 features and we aim to test it across a range of scenarios once we have our hands on retail hardware."

PS4 Remote Play will be activated by the console's day one patch, which can be downloaded in the background while you play.

A new PlayStation Vita system update this week readied the device for PlayStation 4's launch by adding in the Remote Play functionality. Gaze below to see it in action.
