Dust 514 moves to faster update schedule in bid to improve game

"We listen to your feedback, as well as to feedback from the media."

Dust 514 developer CCP Games has announced it will shift to a more regular, near-monthly update cycle for its PlayStation 3-exclusive EVE Online spin-off.

The game's recent Uprising 1.1 version added a string of improvements to the release build, yet version 1.2 is not far behind, CCP said in a new blog post.

"We listen to your feedback, as well as to feedback from the media. As a result, we have decided to move into a faster, more iterative update cycle. We will be pushing out point releases (Update 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, etc.) on a near-monthly basis," Dust 514 creative director Atli Mar wrote.

"This is unique in the console space, only possible because our friends at Sony work with us to evolve the submission processes to suit free-to-play massively multiplayer titles like Dust."

CCP always planned an ongoing roll-out of new features for the game - something that showed in the game's somewhat lacklustre launch version.

"I hope this is far from the last word on what has started out as a distinctly average and rather buggy shooter," Paul Dean wrote in Eurogamer's Dust 514 review. "It could well be a game with a bright future, but right now it's saddled with a very dull debut."

Uprising 1.2 will be headlined by a new Commando dropsuit, Neo Dropsuits for all roles and ISK money transfers between characters, CCP said.
