Murdered: Soul Suspects: a detective in limbo must solve his own murder by interrogating ghosts and influencing the living

UPDATE: Dark Void dev Airtight is making it.

Update: The developer of Murdered: Soul Suspects has been confirmed by Square Enix as Airtight Games, the team that made Dark Void. That jetpack-featuring action game came out in 2010 and wasn't up to much.

Original story: Square Enix has announced PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 game Murdered: Soul Suspects with a bit more oomph, following a teaser in February.

There's a fuller, longer trailer although it's based around the same CGI footage as was glimpsed before: a hard-fisted detective being flung out of a window and discovering he's dead.

That detective is Ronan O'Connor, we now know, and he's now stuck in the limbo world of Dusk, the world of the dead. He's stuck there until he brings his mysterious hooded killer to justice in the afterlife.

In order to do that, however, he'll need to nudge the detectives and people of the living world by influencing their thoughts and actions. He can wander the town of Salem, Massachusetts but he can't directly interact with the living world.

He can interrogate the ghosts of Salem's past to piece together the puzzle of his death and the "shocking truth" behind it, though, and he'll have to battle demonic spirits with his new supernatural powers in order to save his soul.

We know Murdered: Soul Suspects is coming in early 2014 but we don't know who the developer is. I'll let you know more when I can.
