El Shaddai director acquires IP rights from previous publisher

Remember the wonderfully-named El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron, the Book of Enoch-inspired Japanese action game that released on these shores late 2011?
It was published by UTV Ignition, which was bought by Disney in February 2012. We hadn't heard what was to become of the series since. Now, we have.
That's because El Shaddai's director and character designer Sawaki Takeyasu has bought the franchise rights from Ignition, according to Kotaku, via his company Crim, and wants to "develop a potential El Shaddai business moving forward", which sounds to us like a sequel may be on the cards.
The deal is for all things El Shaddai, including a potential prequel, sequel and all in between. "Crim will work with the Entertainment industry to develop a potential El Shaddai business moving forward." reads the announcement press release.
In Eurogamer's 9/10 El Shaddai review, Keza MacDonald, now of IGN, wrote that the game was "the most refreshing experience of the year so far, and visually it truly is incomparable".
