3DS XL Circle Pad Pro finally makes its way to North America

Only available from Nintendo's online store for $19.99.

Nintendo's comically large 3DS add-on, the 3DS XL Circle Pad Pro, may have come out last year in Japan and last month in Europe alongside Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, but our North American friends who upgraded to the latest Nintendo handheld have been left wanting - especially if they were hoping to fight giant underwater dinosaurs. Well, their wish has been granted as Nintendo has finally brought its gargantuan 3DS XL Circle Pad Pro stateside.

It won't be available at retail though - as was the case with the GameStop exclusive original Circle Pad Pro. Instead, users will have to order it directly from Nintendo's official online store, where it's listed for $19.99, the same price as its smaller variant for the original 3DS.

Not many games utilise the attachment, but it's a godsend for those that do - notably Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, Resident Evil Revelations, and Metal Gear Solid 3D Snake Eater. The peripheral may look goofy, but it's actually quite comfortable and adds a second shoulder button to boot.
