Firefall open beta release date revealed

July launch pinned down.

Free-to-play FPS Firefall will launch into open beta on 9th July, developer Red 5 Studios has announced.

The open-world shooter's closed beta will continue to be updated until then, with "major milestones" planned for May and July.

It follows earlier public beta "stress tests" that allowed core systems and server technology to be established.

You can sign up for the open beta now - just head to Firefallthegame.com.

"We're incredibly excited to be nearing what we consider to be the most important stage of Firefall's development - Open Beta," said Red 5 Studios VP of development James Macauley.

"For us, Open Beta isn't a traditional 'marketing beta', but rather an opportunity to include many more players in our community-driven development process. We're looking forward to welcoming these new players into the community and continuing to build an amazing game together."
