Hilco cutting three staff roles across most HMV stores - report

Security guards, cashiers and supervisors in danger.

HMV's new owner Hilco will axe three staff positions across most stores in an effort to trim the annual wage bill.

In-store zombie not on the list, surprisingly.

That's according to The Times (via MCV, which extrapolated that the job-losses could amount to around 400 all told, saving HMV nearly £8 million a year.

The Times' source was an internal HMV memo, which named the in-danger staff roles as security guards, cashiers and supervisors.

Hilco declined to comment when contacted by Eurogamer this morning. HMV had no comment to make, either.

Hilco, a restructuring company, rescued HMV a couple of weeks ago. The plan is to keep 141 stores open, ditch tablets and dedicate more space to music and visual entertainment ranges.
