A.R.E.S. Extinction Agenda EX heading to XBLA

Adds new levels, enemies, bosses, weapons, abilities and leaderboards.

Extend Studio and Orgio Games' PC platformer/shooter A.R.E.S. Extinction Agenda is headed to XBLA in an enhanced edition entitled A.R.E.S. Extinction Agenda EX, publisher Aksy Games has announced.

This enhanced editions has been retrofitted with improved audio and visuals, new levels, enemies, bosses, weapons, abilities, control schemes and leaderboards.

Former EG scribe Kristan Reed had mixed feelings about the original game when it first came out over two years ago. He commended its soundtrack, environments, weapons and bosses, but noted in his A.R.E.S. review that it "quickly undoes all of its good work with a hopelessly persnickety jump system that turns routine platforming negotiation into a tiresome war of attrition."

"If the team can perhaps fix a few niggling issues via an update A.R.E.S. will be well worth a look," he added before giving it a 6/10. It's unclear if the jumping controls have been addressed, but perhaps the new abilities and content will make up for it.

While there isn't a trailer for the upcoming XBLA edition or A.R.E.S., check out the original game's trailer below.
