UK chart: Wii U exclusives absent from top 40 for third week running

FIFA 13 back on top, snore.

The first UK games chart of 2013 shows another week of no Wii U-exclusive titles in the top 40.

It's the third week in a row this has happened. The last time a Wii U-only game was spotted in the top 40 was the week ending 15th December, when Nintendo Land was 39th.

A week earlier, Nintendo Land and New Super Mario Bros. U were 26th and 35th respectively. A week before that, when the Wii U launched, Nintendo Land was 11th and New Super Mario Bros. U 14th. The brilliant ZombiU made its only top 40 appearance at 17th back then.

But there are Wii U versions of best-selling games, although there, sales are underwhelming. Just one per cent of Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 copies sold this week were on Wii U, and Chart-Track bizarrely claimed that zero per cent of Just Dance 4 sales were on Wii U. Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing on Wii U fared better, taking nine per cent of the multi-platform game's sales.

So what was in the chart this week? After 15 weeks on the chart, FIFA 13 clambered back on top. Far Cry 3, last week's number one, was second. Black Ops 2 was third, Hitman: Absolution fourth and Need for Speed: Most Wanted fifth.

Halo 4, Just Dance 4, Forza Horizon, Lego Lord of the Rings and Skyrim rounded out the rest of the top 10.
