GOG adds Windows 8 support, 90 per cent of titles compatible

Metro gaming.

GOG.com has announced Windows 8 support for 90 per cent of its game catalogue - more than 400 titles.

Most games will not need to be redownloaded, a statement from the GOG website explained.

"There are currently 431 titles fixed, tested, and reported to be working properly under Microsoft's new OS," the message reads. "Note that most of these have not had the master builds updated, so you shouldn't need to redownload the installer or anything.

"We'll also be adding more Windows 8 games as time goes by and we've got time to apply some fixes to more of the classic games in the catalogue."

GOG.com had been waiting for the operating system to launch before committing to support.

Microsoft launched Windows 8 last month to a mixed response from developers. It includes Microsoft's own attempt at a digital storefront, the Windows Store.

Games not downloaded through the Store will lack certain Windows 8 features, such as Metro-style Live tiles.
