Sony's LiveAction AR sure is impressive, creepy

The uncanny valley just got uncannier.

Sony has revealed a promo reel for its upcoming LiveAction AR tech, shown below.

The teaser portrays a woman inexplicably dressed like a schoolgirl climbing out of a poster Ringu-style when viewed through a smartphone camera. She then proceeds to stand there like a soulless mannequin whose eyes follow you, until a real-life man gets his picture taken with her, despite the fact that, well, she doesn't exist.

One wonders if the reality will live up to the presentation, but the 3D multi-view photos are impressive. Just think of all the 3D AR cat memes we could have one day!
