Day Z hits over one million players

Zombie mod sure is infectious.

Zombie-themed Arma 2 mod Day Z has received over one million unique players, according to its official site.

After only being out for four months, the player count is currently at 1,003,491, a number that's risen drastically from a half million under a month ago. This sort of success if phenomenal for a mod to a game that actually boosted sales of its three year old parent game up by 500 per cent, launching it to the top of Steam's sales charts.

Day Z has often been called "the best zombie video game ever made," with its focus on open-world explorations, scarce resources and complex social dynamics.

See it in action in our video diaries below where Eurogamer TV's cameraman and video editor James Hills explores its harsh, post-apocalyptic world.
