Assassin's Creed 3 multiplayer story hinted at in trailer

Ready, set, Abstergo.

Information on Assassin's Creed 3's multiplayer story has been fleshed out in a new in-universe trailer.

The footage first popped up on GameTrailers last night, although has since been taken offline. It's still available to view on YouTube, however.

The Assassin's Creed series' multiplayer offering has been explained as a training exercise within Templar-backed research company Abstergo, creator of the history-delving animus device. Abstergo has now begun selling animus devices for commercial use, allowing anyone to join in the stabbing.

Footage shows off a new arctic map, along with details on the game's modes - including team-based AI hunt Wolfpack. Returning favourites Wanted, Manhunt, Artifact Assault, Team Deathmatch and Capture the Flag are also spotted.

There's also a list of challenges to compete in with friends, including "Drive the Car", "Open the can" and "Meet Ted".

A section named Story Quest includes a roadmap of "future initatives", story-based files which are unlocked as you level-up, similar to the Templar-based story information revealed in Assassin's Creed: Revelations.

Indeed, the trailer appears to be narrated by regular Abstergo baddie Warren Vidic, who featured heavily in Revelations' multiplayer storyline.

The footage clearly shows a work-in-progess build of the game - an in-game news ticker can be seen displaying a message from the game's developers.

Find the new trailer below, while it's still available.
