Beck composing three songs for Sound Shapes

Odelay.

Grammy Award-winning musician Beck is scoring three tracks for the synaesthetic platformer Sound Shapes, Sony has announced.

The three titles composed by Beck are: Cities, Touch the People and Spiral Staircase.

"Each song shows off a different aspect of Beck's creativity, and therefore we had to make sure that we did each of those songs justice," said developer Quesy Games' Matthew Kumar on the PlayStation Blog.

Animation studio Pyramid Attack walks us through the creative process of translating one of Beck's Songs - in this case Cities - into a Sound Shapes level in the video below.

Other famous musicians lending their talents to the game are Deadmau5 and Jim Guthrie.

Sounds Shapes is due for release on 7th August in the US and the following day in Europe for the PS3 and Vita. It's priced at £9.99 / €12.99 / $14.99 and features cross-platform play, so if you buy it on one platform you'll automatically get it for the other at no additional cost.
