Guacamelee! announced for PS3, Vita

Stylish Tex-Mex platformer splices Metroid, lucha libre.

Lively indie platformer Guacamelee! is currently in the works for PlayStation 3 and Vita, developer Drinkbox has announced.

As detailed on the PlayStation Blog, it's a colourful side-scroller that follows down-on-his-luck agave farmer Juan Aguacate as sets out to rescue El Presidente's daughter after she's kidnapped by an evil Charro skeleton.

You'll be switching between two separate dimensions during your adventure - the world of the living, and the world of the dead.

There's a co-op multiplayer mode too, and "you can also expect the game to take advantage of the special features offered by each of the platforms", according to Drinkbox chap Graham Smith.

The game is the latest title to come out of Sony's Pub Fund initiative, in which the platform holder offers small scale studios a little financial assistance to get their games made.

No word on a release date right now, but there is a rather lovely trailer to wrap your eyes around. See below.
