Bank holiday weekend update plans

Kittens, Second Sight, retro consoles and a Rignall.

God save the Queen! Oh, it's not that one yet? Then I must wish you a happy, poetically-titled Early May Bank Holiday Weekend. Woo.

Tom's too busy being on holiday to complain about the fact he can't make us work on Monday, so it falls upon me to reassure you that we've programmed our amazing Automagical Inter-Network Publication System to keep feeding you articles about video games over the next three days.

Here are a few of the things you can look forward to - or, on a rather retrospectively tinged weekend, look back at:

  • A full complement of Apps of the Days, including notorious cat-fancier Jeffrey Matulef on something called Kitten Sanctuary.
  • Following today's shocking account of Free Radical's demise, Marsh Davies reassesses its unsung classic, Second Sight.
  • Retro fiend Damien McFerran presents his retro console collector's guide.
  • And none other than veteran journo Jaz Rignall presents his look back at the year to end all years... but which was it?

And there'll be more besides. Of course, in America you don't get a day off just because it's the early part of a specific month (cruel, isn't it), so our US news editor Fred Dutton will be back on Monday afternoon/evening to remind us all that the world keeps on turning, even when our Sceptered Isle, Seat of Empire and Diamond Olympic Jubilee Nation takes a day off to stare out of the window at the rain, drink tea and moan a bit.

Have a great weekend!
