EA reveals new weekly Inside DICE Battlefield 3 community blog

Demands met.

smile

"Mmmmm."

Developer DICE will announce a new weekly blog that will preview everything being made for Battlefield 3, EA has informed Eurogamer.

"We're excited to announce a new blog series!" DICE will announce. "Tentatively titled Inside DICE, this weekly blog series will debut next week and is a way for us to update you, our fans, with all the latest news, content plans, updates and upgrades we have planned for Battlefield 3."

Earlier today, major Battlefield 3 community site Battlefieldo threatened to black out the game's community for a day until EA/DICE promised to improve communication.

Not long after, DICE announced the details of an upcoming and still in development Battlefield 3 PC patch.

Now this.

The making of Battlefield 3.

    "Action, REACTION!"

    Bungie have been doing this for years.

    It ought to be the norm anyway. It's an investment.

    Ugh, I hate it when whiny little wankers get what they want. It sets a really fucked up precedent.

    @jaguarwong

    A big corporation wouldn't respond this quickly, I doubt the ridiculous planned blackout had ANYTHING to do with this announcement, I bet we would have seen them announce it today regardless.
  • Eraysor #5 3 months ago

    @jaguarwong To a degree I can agree with this, as particularly whiny people will use this as an excuse for other games to do the same thing now. On the other hand, this is a pretty nice thing for DICE/EA to do.

    and still no acknowledgement or mention of fix to the ps3 latency isues. They're turning slowly back to their evil old selves are EA and beginning to mirror Activision in more way than one
  • bodthekiller #7 3 months ago

    whiny people they have taken away control from the players and dont give updates on a multiplayer game lbi are going the right way about a beta and the game isnt out yet they want us to play there games and be involved then they need to have updates for the people who play the game and will spend there money on the dlc
  • billy-beauts #8 3 months ago

    I can't believe people still play Battlefield 3. It's nothing special.
  • jaguarwong #9 3 months ago

    @GAmbrose
    While I agree that this hasn't been knocked up overnight I think it's too much of a coincidence to assume that this was going to be announced today.

    Bringing these press releases forward gives these arseholes the impression that they have got their way - which is all that matters to them.

    @GAmbrose

    To the point where I'd almost - almost - suspect that it was all planned from the start, to make it look like EA/DICE (owners of Origin) respond to their community a whole lot quicker than Valve (owners of Steam) do!
  • kirankara #11 3 months ago

    @jaguarwong Whilst whiny gamers get on my nerves, I cant see what these guys have done too wrong apart from ask for dialogue between dev and consumers about issues and updates
  • jaguarwong #12 3 months ago

    @kirankara
    Asking is one thing, but these stains were threatening this ridiculous 'Blackout'.

    It's a cuntish attitude and giving the impression that it has achieved its goals is all but asking for others to replicate the behaviour.
  • kirankara #13 3 months ago

    @jaguarwong works both ways I guess though, for so long now devs and publishers have taken gamers for cunts. Possibly time people took action imo. Although, what exactly their proposed action really achieves im not sure. i actually think gamers deserve proper support and dialogue with devs regarding issues in game tbh, as often they just blank people or avoid it for as long a possible.

    This isn't something you decide to do on a whim, they must've been planning it for awhile.
  • Raptaur #15 3 months ago

    Who said it was decided on a whim, the get together on trying to get the developer to share information was done yesterday, eurogamer has just picked it up today

    I don't imagine it takes a whole lot or organization or resources for someone in the office to say, fancy sticking an extra link on the Battlelog for a blog to be put together by the current community manager/s

    Oh, and here Rob's picture selection technique:

    1) Think of what the Battlefield 3 protest group will feel about the story - "Happy"..
    2) Go to Google images
    3) Enter aforementioned word
    4) Use first image that comes up!

    Why all the anger toward the people that where planning the black out?

    It's not the sort of thing I get into myself. But I don't get the hostility toward a group of passionate gamers, simply voicing there concerns about a community there involved in.

    Throwing words like "arseholes" and "wankers" around is a bit uncalled for.
  • stealthfinger #19 3 months ago

    So this is literally an announcement that an announcement will be made....nice.
  • traviscotty #20 3 months ago

    The timing of announcement makes me highly suspicious and awakens the cynic in me.
  • hiddenranbir #21 3 months ago

    Uh...didn't we already have a blog? I remember reading lots of cool things during Bad Company and MoH and build up to BF3...
  • azix2 #22 3 months ago

    paid for DLC splinters the community. At least for those without the limited edition.
  • sjmlondon #23 3 months ago

    'Paid for DLC splinters the community. At least for those without the limited edition.'

    Not totally true in this case as the Back to Karkand maps don't rotate with the original maps and vice versa. The BF3 limited edition with the bonus map pack was widely publicised and available from most retailers for the same price as the standard edition around release, so you have no one to blame apart from yourself if you missed out.

    Re the protest, Dice have traditionally appeared to be elusive and evasive when it comes to responding to critical feedback about games such as Bad Company 2 and Battlefield 3 which many players feel very passionate about. Although I don't agree with the threatening boycott perhaps it has given them a kick up their backsides re being a bit more communicative with the player community who keep them in business.

    Nice going, although they did this before when Pete Closs was CM, then again when Emma was CM then again when Daniel Matros was CM. So what is different this time? Marketing gonna do it instead?
  • cw- #25 3 months ago

    How much clout does Battlefieldo have? A few thousand gamers? Would a blackout have made any difference what so ever?

    Would it not have just been like my 4week old son taking a piss in the Atlantic ?
