Street Fighter DLC confirmed for Asura's Wrath

Plus, two story-based add-ons incoming.

Lunatic action adventure Asura's Wrath will be invaded by a number of characters from the Street Fighter franchise via a DLC add-on, publisher Capcom has announced.

Details are currently scarce but Capcom confirmed that various Street Fighter favourites, including Ryu, will show up and challenge the titular immortal to a scrap.

Prior to that, Capcom will release two story-based DLC expansions, each sporting different visual styles, that plug gaps between the main game's episodes.

Release dates for all of this lot haven't been confirmed, though Capcom did offer up a few screenshots, which you can peruse below.

The CyberConnect2-developed title is due out in the UK on 9th March.

"For anyone with a passing interest in popular Japanese culture or with a simple love of the absurd, it's worth taking note," read Eurogamer's recent Asura's Wrath preview.

"Asura's Wrath is a marriage of manga, anime and games that's well intentioned, well informed and stupidly well read. For a game that's driven by rage and fuelled by anger, when the dust settles it's hard not to be utterly charmed by it all."

It's cute how they think this game is going to sell enough for DLC to be worthwhile. Capcom has no handle on the market at all these days.

Maybe it'll be alright, but no one will ever know.

    Again: Crapcom.

    Asura's QTE isn't interesting anyways.

Game looks great! I get why some people are out off by it but I'm not very well versed in manga so maybe the experience is fresher for me. Yes it's qte city but the demo really appealed to me as its just different from anything else out there so I'll pick it up. I am concerned though that there's going to be story dlc to "plug the gaps". Considering the story is apparently one of the major selling points (according to some reviews) and the game clocks in at about 5/6 hours long, how can they justify charging full retail price AND leaving some story out? I'm not normally one to bash dlc but Capcom have been major abusers of if the model this gen.

Why is it only delayed in the UK, might this hurt sales of the game?
  • theguy #5 3 months ago

I think it's delayed because of game and their problems etc. I think this game is great personally but I was just going to rent it but the dlc makes me think otherwise...

The Asura's Wrath demo was bloody mental! I loved it. The main issue is, releasing it the same day as Mass Effect 3 means you will be waiting for my money.

@DurzoBlint Maybe they just believe in the quality of their game.

I wonder if those street fighter charecters could be used in the main game, I'd pay double to play Akuma's Wrath
