    my time with skyrim has been rejuvenated by these fixes, the high res texture pack and a handful of mods. Would have been nice to have experienced it this way during my first playthrough, but we definitely got there in the end.

    As ever am torn between feeling admiration for Bethesda putting together such an awesome game, and annoyance at the need for a stream of patches that fix gameplay elements that would, ideally, be sorted from the get-go.

    Saying that, perhaps the additional mod functionality is tricky to implement smoothly...

    SkyUI and 2K High Res Textures have made Skyrim worth playing again.

    Hilarious.

    @lolercopter Not really hilarious now is it.

    Would you rather have a broken game which supports hundreds of hours of gameplay or a more streamlined experience lasting a dozen or so hours which is really polished?

    Awesome, I get my new PC in a couple days, already purchased this on Steam, can't wait to play it.

    (I've actually put in around 100hrs across both the PS3 and 360)

    Er, the second one? I don't think anyone here has been saying "god, there aren't enough games for me to play, and they are all too short! I wish games were much, much longer because I have shit loads of free time and not enough to do in it."

    Or, heaven forbid, something in the middle? Like, 30-odd hours with a couple of bugs but nothing that breaks the game?
  • lolercopter #9 3 months ago

    @mccappind It is, considering the amount of testing (that isn't) done to Bethesda's software. The negative votes are actually surprising, people around here are in a cranky mood today, eh?

    Started playing this again, this time as a warrior using a 2h. Such a difference over a caster, although I wouldn't go so far as to say its a different game its certainly different enough to handle another play through.

    And then I have shit-tons of mods, via the Skyrim Nexus mod-manager.

    Utterly superb.

    I wish they'd finally fix the dialogue menu so that the option is chosen that you actually clicked on.
  • jogyourmind #12 3 months ago

    I wish they would fix how dumbed down and boring the game is. This is not an RPG.
  • FladgeMangle #13 3 months ago

    @jogyourmind

    What is then, in your view?

    There's definitely a role for you to play in this game, Dragonborn.

    Or, you can just muck about. Up to you.

    to be honest i think everyone is going a bit over the top with the hole "skyrim is glitchy" i say to hell with that i have ever only met 2 major glitches where the floor has disapeared but everyone is going crazy cos there is a floating knife or when someone dies the bow is still drawn but not every game is gonna be perfect, i think todd howard and his crew made a wonderful job on skyrim and carnt wait for any DLC's and fallout 4, keep up the good work you guys
  • jogyourmind #15 3 months ago

    @FladgeMangle

    What's an RPG in my view? I would have to go back more than 10 years, unfortunately. Everything since about 1999 has been just a hack n slash action game with a few token stats here and there.

    The only way to get a half decent RPG experience these days is to play one of the less known MMO's, like Vanguard.
  • 5h1nj1 #16 3 months ago

    @jogyourmind Omg, this ridiculous "only ancient RPGs were good" argument again. Some gamers surely are a strange lot.
    Btw, you don't have to like Skyrim but you can NOT say, that it's not an RPG, cause it is by definition. :)
  • Peregrin #17 3 months ago

    Note to self, must remember: Purchase next Bethesda game about three months after launch date. Not only cheaper, but vastly more functional.
  • jogyourmind #18 3 months ago

    @5h1nj1

    How is it ridiculous? And we are not strange at all, we just have some standards unlike you console hack n slash people who will play anything if it's hyped enough. And I still say it's not an RPG, just because you play a role, doesn't make a game an RPG, otherwise so is every FPS and flight sim and sports game etc..
  • 5h1nj1 #19 3 months ago

    quote: "console hack n slash people"

    Really? :D That's what you can come up with? Omg, my brain cells are dying just from reading it. :) You surely have some "standards".

    You certainly should educate yourself on the field of RPG and its' basic definitions. But you will probably just see what you want to see and ignore what you don't want to see anyway. I know your kind, met a lot of you during 30 years of my active gaming on every possible hardware and in almost every genre. Some people just get "stuck" in a certain period or a certain very specific set of games and don't move forward, flaming everything that isn't "their thing", regardless of many high quality values.

    Btw, Vanguard? That bugfest of a game? Mediocre at best. Quite immersive at times, yes, but far from really special.

    @5h1nj1

    You haven't played it, your lies don't fool me. You can live in denial all you want, you play the lowest common denominator action slasher game and you want to think of yourself as an RPG player. Sorry but you aren't.
  • 5h1nj1 #21 3 months ago

    @jogyourmind Just stop embarrassing yourself, man. :)
