EA job listing points to Crysis 3

Crys3s?

A new EA job ad suggests Crysis 3 is in development.

EA is after a video director to work with EA "partner studio" Crytek to capture game footage.

The job ad, spotted by AllGamesBeta, says CryEngine knowledge would be an asset.

Crysis 2, which launched in March 2011, was published by EA under the EA Partners label. As of July 2011 it had sold three million copies worldwide.

Enough to convince EA to get on board with a sequel? Looks like it.

Announced projects at the German developer include Kinect-fuelled Xbox 360 exclusive Ryse and Homefront 2 (Crytek UK).

    Hopefully they'll take the same stance that they had with the original and not bother with an online pass. Looking forward to this, though I do hope they make it a little more open like the original.

    "Cris3s" - They had better fucking not!

    yawn

    people look way too much into job descriptions

    Oooh, hope they weave a better story and less wooden characters into this one.

    Crysis 2 had some great gameplay plus an awesome setting but I didn't find myself really caring about what the hell was happening as long as I got to blow away bad guys/aliens... can we have our story/gameplay cake and eat it?
  • bad09 #5 3 months ago

    I'll buy it, I know I'll buy it as I love Crysis and sexy graphics, but gotta be honest 2 was completely uninteresting and forgettable compared to 1 and Warhead. I can't quite pin it down but while an enjoyable shooter 2 seemed to have no soul, it was a cold and empty experience that ultimately didn't move me like 1 did.

    Hopefully they make the 3rd one better....a lot better.

    I quite enjoyed the second one except the story and characters, what the hell was that. Never been so uninterested in what was happening. Crysis wasn't good in that department either but at least not laid on as thick as Crysis 2. The lead dev thinking a bit too much of himself going by the intro credits. Bring on Crysis 3, gun play has always been fun.

    @bad09 Agreed, they ruined Crysis with no. 2.

    Crysis 1 was groundbreaking, and so was Far Cry before it. I hope they can recapture some of the magic.
  • Nova1977 #8 3 months ago

    They killed off all the characters of the first game in some Crysis comic, wtf?
  • anthonypappa #9 3 months ago

    i have to say, i thought crysis 2 was bloody shit.
  • ipressbuttons #10 3 months ago

    I completed Crysis 2 very recently and thought it was fantastic! So I'm looking forward to this.

    I should add though, I never played the first one, however I bought it and will start it next week.

    Crytek's post-launch support is appalling, the worst in the business. I'll never pay full whack for one of their titles again.

    Be nice if they can restrict the squiddies (Ceph, whatever) to cameo roles this time and let us enjoy the man vs man combat that made the first one so good. Going cloaked, stalking and taking out a superior force one by one in Crysis 1/Warhead was the closest I've come to feeling like a Predator, more so than any of the AvP games.

    Hopefully they'll let Richard Morgan write a story first then make a game around that. If you've read 'Altered Carbon' or 'Black Man' you'll know he can turn out something pretty special. Crysis 2 felt like it had been script doctored to link set pieces, rather than follow an organic narrative like Half Life and HL2 did.

    The Nanosuit is still technofetish sexy in all the right ways.
  • FogHeart #14 3 months ago

    @Nova1977 Huh? When did that happen? Can anyone point me in the right direction?

    /weeps for Psycho
  • Cjail #15 3 months ago

    @CaptainQuint

    I will go further than that and never again buy a game made by Crytek.
    Really Crytek post-launch support is so bad that it makes Bethesda look like a careful company that has the good habit of hastening things when it comes to patches and fixing bugs!

    Timesplitters please.
  • LR100 #17 3 months ago

    I think "Thricis" works better than "Cris3s" ;)

    @landlock Why would we want a sequel to a great game like Timesplitters when we can get a sequel to a distinctly average and poorly received modern day themed shooter in Homefront 2. /sarcasm off
  • Machetazo #22 3 months ago

    I thought that Crysis was voted off the island already.
  • MattEdWithCheese #23 3 months ago

    Homefront 2? What about Timesplitters... :/
  • Alf-Life #24 3 months ago

    I'm willing to bet people who write "Timesplitters 4" wouldn't buy it if they actually released it.
  • fruitnveg #25 3 months ago

    @Alf-Life i would buy it. Timesplitters 4 !!!!!
    the timesplitters series for ps2 was soo much fun. nothing like it has been released yet this generation.
  • craziii #26 3 months ago

    the series went from an open world shooter to corridors. I was sad when I played crysis 2. never finished it after I stop playing with about 5 hours of game time.
  • theguy #27 3 months ago

    Wasn't crysis always a trilogy anyways?
  • GavinUK86 #28 3 months ago

    @ExplodingClown Take away the "squiddies"? So you want military vs military? another COD yeah? No, please dont remove the Ceph (which they wont because thats the point of crysis)
  • Seehuusen #29 3 months ago

    Crysis 2 had some cool ideas and settings, but i'd prefer them going back to the jungle again :)
  • its-LegendOfGamer #30 3 months ago

    Better framerate for consoles please even if it means slightly worse graphics. Thankyou.

    What I still don't understand is why this pointed to Crysis 3. They're searching for a video director to capture game footage, and Crytek is working on both Homefront 2 and Ryse.

    So why would they be searching for one to capture Crysis 3 footage rather than some from those two titles?
  • Dr_Cowley #32 3 months ago

    @ExplodingClown I'm with you on this dude. After the fight with the leader of the korean forces when I went onto the ship I thought I was playing a different game as if Crytek had done a Voltron.
  • NelgN7 #33 3 months ago

    @DrStrangelove Homefront is being published by THQ and Ryse is being published by Microsoft. So either it's Crysis related or A new IP published by EA.
  • ExplodingClown #34 3 months ago

    @GavinUK86

    No. Read my post properly.

    *Restrict* not *remove* the Ceph. Compare their late reveal as an extremely powerful and dangerous presence in Crysis with their frequent appearances and reduction to 'overpowered grunt' in Crysis 2.

    If you can't feel any difference between the human sections of Crysis and the lunkheaded crap that is Modern Warfare (the first Call of Duty was outstanding, let's not forget), please stop playing video games now, "yeah?".
  • jogyourmind #35 3 months ago

    Crysis: Really good PC game
    Crysis2: dumbed down ps3/xbox game
    Crysis3: Wii game?
  • DrStrangelove #36 3 months ago

    @NelgN7

    Aah, that makes sense. Thank you.
