Tera: beta dates and pre-order bonuses

Try the action game-style MMO.

Tera's open beta starts on 19th April, the MMO's European publisher Frogster has announced.

Before that, there will be five closed beta weekends. The first of these begins Friday, 17th February.

Before that - this weekend - there will be two closed nine-hour Tera play sessions. These are on Saturday and Sunday from 3pm CET (2pm UK time)

You'll need a key to get access, and these will be given out by various media outlets. None appear to have been named yet, but the Tera website should point to them.

Tera can be pre-ordered from today, and the primary benefit is a five-day head start. The game's general release is 3rd May, which means you'll play from 28th April.

Tera pre-orders also bestow closed beta access, special items and a chance to reserve your character's name. You can pre-order Tera from the official shop.

Tera is a pretty Korean MMO that stands out for its action game-style combat system. Look, here's a new video.

That outfit in weather like this?

    Keys for the sneak peak are all over the internet's MMO sites, if you want to play on the EU servers, best bet is the German sites like Buffed, Onlinewelten etc.

    My Next MMO needs to have a character thats only a single giant boob or a set of boobs. Ive never got the fascination with scantily clad women in MMOs. If you want tits, use the rest of the internets :/

    Is there anything special about this MMO or is it just going to join the long list of ghost towns as soon as the next big thing comes out?

    I suppose I could always try the beta and find out for myself, but I really can't find the enthusiasm to download yet another also-ran MMO...

    It's supposedly more actiony content and they are reserving large swathes of content, systems and convenience features to be put at the behest of the biggest guilds.

    @Labatyd

    Main difference is the action combat, none of this turn-based stuff you get in WoW. You need to aim, dodge and anticipate.

    Think more like Fable or Dark Souls combat (not sure if it is good yet though). Also the download is evil, using their patcher and it is 23gb.

    hmm the log in servers and forums are all broken today and it's mid event time. This little company will never be able to release a working mmo.
