Street Fighter x Tekken DLC characters leaked - report
Cody! Guy! Christie! Leo!
A list of downloadable content for fighting game Street Fighter x Tekken has leaked onto the internet.
Screw Attack has published a list of DLC, which includes gems, colours and new costumes, as well as new characters.
The New Challengers Pack, down for $7.99, apparently adds four characters to the game: Cody and Guy from Capcom and Christie and Leo from Namco.
The X Unlocker ($4.99) unlocks two secret characters, Akuma and Ogre, as well as all additional character colours and special modes without having to perform the in-game tasks to unlock them.
The X Unlocker sounds like a time-saving DLC - it seems likely you'll be able to unlock Akuma and Ogre, two characters Capcom has teased previously, without it.
All the DLC listed by Screw Attack amounts to around $55. The list is reproduced below.
- Boost Gem Pack 1 - $2.99, Includes 9 new gems to equip to your characters.
- Boost Gem Pack 2 - $2.99, Includes 9 new gems to equip to your characters.
- Colour Edit Pack 1 - FREE, Includes 4 new colours to use in the Colour Edit mode.
- Costume Swap S Pack - $9.99, Includes a new costume for each of the Street Fighter characters, based on a Tekken character.
- Costume Swap T Pack - $9.99, Includes a new costume for each of the Tekken characters, based on a Street Fighter character.
- Costume Swap X Pack - $15.99, A combination of the S Pack and T Pack - Includes new costumes for each character, based on characters from the opposite series.
- New Challengers Pack - $7.99, Adds 4 new characters to the game: Cody, Guy, Christie and Leo.
- X Unlocker - $4.99, Unlocks two secret characters, Akuma and Ogre, as well as all additional character colours and special modes without having to perform the in-game tasks to unlock them.
It should be noted that both Cody and Guy were shown in an early Street Fighter x Tekken trailer.
Capcom has confirmed 40 characters for the game so far. Expect another announcement for a final set of characters soon.

A little misleading as the most expensive piece is a combo of the two next most expensive items.
I'm not really sure why I'm defending this but I imagine:
A) Only the biggest fans will bother with the DLC and, as they will probably be sinking a ridiculous amount of time in to it, it won't end up being crazy expensive.
B) The only ones that appear to make a difference to the game are the new characters and the (bloody) gems, which cost $14 total.
C) The previous SF games have retailed at a little less than your average console game.
I only purchase DLC for games I really like and want to extend. I see it almost as a charity donation to the developers who are making games I want to play so I'm happy to sponsor them to make more.
The gems are the only annoying bit. I don't recall even CoD having the balls to charge for additional perks or weapons. The only way to defend this is to say we're not quite sure how important they will be but I'd have preferred costumes to be included as pre-order incentives as they have no effect on the match. Then all the gems could be included for free.

True, but we also used to pay £40 for those games when they were released.
I got SSFIV for £22 on release date. I'd rather get the game cheaper and pay extra for any guff than have the game be double price but include a bunch of costumes and other tatt that I wont use.

BlazBlue Continuum Shift
Arcana Heart 3
King of Fighters XIII (And that had three on disc DLC characters but everyone was so busy masturbating over "2D IS BACK" to point it out)
Soul Calibur 5 (Day 1 DLC of on disc create a character pieces and music)
I await the incessant nerd whinging and hypocrisy to amuse me.

I'll pass on the DLC, I don't need it.
Looking forward to seeing the reviews on this, hoping it's amazing!
