  • telboy007 #2 4 months ago

    First screenshot, the two guys on the left have the same legs! Pft...
  • Subdominator #3 4 months ago

    Textures and lighting have taken a big hit but other than that it looks pretty decent.

    Is this the time to legitimately revive the "looks fantastic" meme? No? Nobody?
    I'll get me coat.

    You guys are in for a treat. The game played great on a controller, in fact I preferred it that way, and it still looks stunning judging from them screenshots.

    Looks exceptional from those screenshots but the real test will be how well it runs; can it maintain a smooth 30 fps with minimal screen tearing (or, better still, none at all)?

    Wow looks amzing nice work to the developers.
  • Vitor #13 4 months ago

    @JAGUARCD32x Ubersampling doubles the image and layers it on top of each other - smoothing out edges but, as you're basically rendering things twice, it kills FPS.

    It's really not worth it. AA does much the same and the visual difference is barely noticeable.

    Whats this^ got to do with the 360 version of the Witcher 2?
  • Monkey_Puncher #15 4 months ago

  • telboy007 #16 4 months ago

    @Cjail The point is they have the same legs.
  • kangarootoo #17 4 months ago

    Yay! Witcher is one of the few games that makes me miss PC gaming. Super pleased its finally making it to console.

    @telboy007

    I think what you mean to say is "the two guys on the left are wearing the same pants and boots". It may surprise you to know this happens in real life too. A quick visit to the Jorvik Viking Centre in York, and you would discover that your average ancient peasant didn't really have much variety in their wardrobe.

    I believe it is a stealth "but the PC version is still better, because its got antisotropical filtration" post.

    Edit: this post needs a ;)

    Really looking forward to this.

    Xbox gamers should really play the first game on the PC. Yeah, i know The Witcher 2 on the 360 has vids included to close the gap in the story, but it's not the same.

    Much like Mass Effect 2 on the PS3, you need to play the first game. Vids to fill in the blanks just don't cut it.
  • kassmageant #21 4 months ago

    earlier i read on gamesradar that it looks really weak compared to pc, and i was like " ok... : ( " - and now i see those screens. ehem, i can live with that : )

    also, how much will it cost around the europe? because i almost spilled coffee on my computer when i saw that xbox version will cost around 24 quid in Poland, which, for a new console game, is quite unheard of here.

    Saw the 360 build running in a live Cd Projekt stream last night. Looked as good as screenshots imply and more importantly framerate looked rock solid.

    Can't wait for this.
  • GamesConnoisseur #23 4 months ago

    Got both on my PC but would be delighted to play again on X360. A great game that deserves the support, just as I purchased (repurchased?!) Mass Effect 2 on PC and PS3 after completing X360.

    @JumpinJackFlash

    MEh I played through the entirety of Witcher 2 having only played 1 - 2 hours of the very beginning of The Witcher.

    I'd recommend playing it regardless.

    Of course if you have the time and access to a PC to play the original by all means do go ahead it seems a top game.

  • Franeau #26 4 months ago

    @GamesConnoisseur Why would you do that? What does is matter if you play on the PS3 or 360, it's the same game. Waste of money imo.
  • DUFFKING #27 4 months ago

    From this day forth, this game shall be know as 'TW2ASoKEE'
  • berelain #28 4 months ago

    I just replayed this a couple of weeks ago, and it was by leaps and bounds the game of 2011 for me. An absolute masterpiece; replaying it only confirmed that for me.

    The 360 version looks... fantastic. No, really. Yeah, there's a clear texture hit, but the quality of the artwork shines through regardless, and given that The Witcher 2 is one of the best looking PC games (IMO) it's great to see that the 360 version looks very nearly as good. Maybe there's life in this generation yet, if only the developers program for it correctly....

    And the game plays fine with a pad. The inventory is the only hurdle to overcome on the PC with a pad, but I'm sure it'll have been restructured a little for the 360 version anyway.

    I can't wait for the DF article
  • geeza2020 #30 4 months ago

    Yeah, you're always going to struggle to transplant a UI from a PC game using a keyboard to a console with only a pad. Still, I have faith in CDProjekt.

    My PC wont play The Witcher 2, but I may have to pick the first one up (I know it will play the original, I tried out a friends copy on his steam account through my computer. I'm sure theres no legal ramifications there at all...ahem) before this 360 version hits.

    @TwinPeaksBob

    Don't tell @telboy007 about that link. There were a couple of women one of those crowded street scenes wearing the same hat!
  • septimus #32 4 months ago

    Looks good considering the Witcher 2 at maximum settings and 2560x1440 destroys my setup where Battlefield 3 runs smooth as.

    Never seen this game run at its best yet sadly... need a new rig.
  • login_name #33 4 months ago

    The UI works fine on a pad. It's far better than anything Bethesda or Bioware have ever put out. Obviously M&K is better but there's not many UIs out there that wouldn't be better using M&K.

    Seriously, I wouldn't worry about it. In fact, is there not a Gaikai demo you could try on this very site? It'll be good enough to at least see how the UI works on a pad, I assume.
  • telboy007 #34 4 months ago

    @kangarootoo Dagnammit, they do have the same hat! Double pft!
  • arcam #35 4 months ago

    I played the whole game on PC with a 360 controller, there are no issues with that.

    And I'm glad to see it still looking good - the Witcher 2 was perhaps the best graphics I've ever seen on my PC, it's a beautiful game.

    It really is an excellent game, I'm very pleased it will reach a wider audience because it just doesn't get talked about as much as it should.
  • kangarootoo #36 4 months ago

    @telboy007

    I think to be fair to you, they might have the same face as well.
  • telboy007 #37 4 months ago

    @kangarootoo OH MY GOD! I've never triple pft'ed before, this is all too much.

    I'm going for a lay down in a dark room.

    Also, I've always wanted to go to the viking centre in York. I take it you've been, is it worth going?

    "First screenshot, the two guys on the left have the same legs! Pft..."

    Yeah but they're obviously a gay couple, so it makes perfect sense.
  • BigHal #39 4 months ago

    One of the few console 360 exclusives I have been looking forward to.

    Looks great.
  • kangarootoo #40 4 months ago

    @telboy007

    Its ace. I went a lot as a kid (grandparents lived there), but went again a year or two ago. The initial entrance time machine sequence is a bit kiddy (I was there with my exgf, and there was like one other couple in the room, but the actor dude still went through his paces) but after that its cool fun. Waxworks and a monorail combine very well :)

    The York Dungeon and Castle Museum are also worth a visit.

    Could I possible BE more off topic :)

    @JAGUARCD32x

    You need to develop a thicker skin and a sense of humour. This is a thread about a 360 game, but you were name dropping PC gfx terms. That made your post an obvious target for mocking, and your excessive anger makes me wonder if I wasn't right on the money.

    Will they import the full 360 pad layout to PC? Be a great added bonus if they do
