Mega Man and Pac-Man are playable characters in the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita versions of upcoming fighting game Street Fighter x Tekken, Capcom has announced.

The Mega Man in SFxT is the version of Mega Man seen on the original Mega Man 1 box art. Namco mascot Pac-Man rides on Mokujin, the tree creature from the Tekken series.

Both characters are said to have "light-hearted" fighting styles. See for yourself in the trailer, below.

Mega Man and Pac-Man join fellow PlayStation exclusive characters Cole from Infamous and the Sony cats Toro and Kuro. That makes five Sony exclusive characters for the game. SFxT on Xbox 360 will not feature any exclusive characters.

Why that version of Mega Man? "Well, in the spirit of crossover fun, the dev team wanted both Capcom and Namco's mascots to join the fray in a slightly silly, goofy way," Capcom explained.

"Pac-Man riding Mokujin is about as weird as it can get, so the best equivalent for Mega Man would have to be the so-bad-it's-good-but-still-kinda-bad box art from Mega Man 1 in the US."

Meh, looks like a waste of money for Sony to be honest I don't see many switching platforms for that lot. Rather naughty having 5 more characters 1 one platform but I guess both MS and Sony through their wallet around to restrict companies selling to all their customers the same product, not the best way to treat your customers but business I guess.

I'm getting it on PC anyway so with Capcoms hit and miss PC support I'm lucky to get a game at all never mind some extra characters.

Toro's best game appearance to date has to be in Everybody's Golf (World Tour), but this might top it for me. Throwing Kuro in is an added bonus (prays for him to have a bin-lid special move).

I've always felt Sony should have pushed Toro and Kuro outside of Japan as Playstation mascots. Their antics on the Mainichi Issho application on PS3 have impeccable comedy timing (especially Kuro taking a bin lid to the noggin on a frequent basis) which would translate well... even if they are doing little more than shilling the wares of whichever company has ponied up some yen to SCE.

I'd much rather hav the 360 version as better pad for multiplayer plus i have arcade stick...but may hold off for a price reduction and get on ps3 eventutally for the characters. I only have 1 pad for ps3 though... ;-(

Not sure what to make of SF x T � it has kind of crept up on us, and keeps looking better and better. Not a big fan of Tekken.

But I do want to punch PacMan in the face.

@bad09 Lol Sony don't pay for things like this. This was obviously just Yoshi's sense of humour. Also its just as well Microsoft released that update for the 360 that uses the actual 8gbs of a dvd disc (like God of War 2 did, a PS2 game) because it looks like now that they were lucky to even be able to fit the standard characters they were going for on the actual disc.

Looks pretty cool, although I'm not too keen on those cat characters, Toro and Kuro. Hopefully they won't be useable in ranked matches or will be obviously underpowered. Certainly good for a bit of a giggle with friends though I'm sure.

You're being mean to andrew. Don't pay atention to him man, Capcom and Sony are buddies, just love eachother and shit, and stuff, also the DVD can't keep up with Pac-Man, he's so fucking huge even to be DLC it'd be impossible.

Anyway, since these are exclusive for Playstation, I can't help but to wonder if they have any future Mega Man plans for PSN or something, like re-releasing the old Mega Man games on it, like SEGA have done with some of their Mega Drive games.
