Very pretty, but can't shake the feeling this one is destined for mediocrity.

Why so sad? Its not another platformer, and not an FPS (hallelujah!). 3D is really striking in this one too. People are so negative on this site.

Well, the flying sections look quite fun, a bit like a Starfox title, but the on foot sections look a bit generic. The game uses the analog slider, stylus and L button, which means limited controls. I don't know if you can jump, but from the trailers it looks like all you can do is aim and shoot. It just looks like a generic third person shooter on foot, andI don't think thats what anyone wants from KI. I'd actually be more interested if it were purely an on rails flying shooter.

Points duly noted, but frankly I'm very happy that they've gone for the stylus control option as its so intuitive when implemented properly. Many of my favourite games in the DS family are stylus controlled (Zelda DS's, Meteos, Steel Diver) so if they can get around the potential hand cramping by providing well placed rest moments then this could be a really intuitive and refreshing shooter.

Appreciate that fans of the NES original may have wanted a platformer cum adventure or the type but we can hardly be surprised it wasnt chosen. To most gamers these days (across a wide age range) whether into Ninty or not, Kid Icarus the franchise simply isn't that big a deal.
