Namco announces Inversion delay

Gravity-bending shooter won't make February date.

Gravity-bending third person shooter Inversion won't make its planned 10th February release date, Namco Bandai has announced.

The publisher told GameSpot that the Saber Interactive-developed title now has a distinctly nebulous "some time in early 2012" window.

"This additional development time will allow the team to polish several key aspects of the game ensuring Inversion is of the highest quality," added a spokesperson.

It's not the first time the game has been held back for more work. First announced back in 2009, the game was originally meant to ship in 2010.

Eurogamer's Christian Donlan flagged up a few concerns when he sat down with an early version of the game last year.

"It's more enthusiastic about gravity than any game since Half-Life 2, but much of its world - with its cover, its dereliction, its beefy no-neck minions of death - could belong to a dozen other shooters, and that might be a problem come release day," read his Inversion preview.
