EMI "hidden gems" for Grand Theft Auto 5 music
Radio times.
Music publishing giant EMI is working to secure "hidden gems" from its giant audio catalogue for use in Grand Theft Auto 5.
EMI has previously provided tunes for the Grand Theft Auto series and is apparently ready to work with Rockstar again.
"Over the years, the Grand theft Auto series has provided EMI Music Publishing with a unique opportunity to get sync placements for some hidden gems in our catalogue that otherwise may not have landed in the world of video games," EMI exec told Music Week (via MCV).
"We look forward to working with Rockstar Games on future versions of this fantastic series and to continuing to deliver value to our songwriters in this regard."
The track which accompianed the initial Grand Theft Auto 5 reveal trailer, Ogdens' Nut Gone Flake by The Small Faces, is so far the only song confirmed to be in the game.
Rockstar is yet to announce a release date or launch platforms for Grand Theft Auto 5, although the first footage of the game suggested the title was already well into development.

Admittedly we don't know much about the setting for GTAV yet, but if it's modern day Hollywood, it's gonna be hard to have a totally different feel to the radio of modern New York in GTAIV. I hope they can pull it off. It should be more than just a soundtrack, it's incidental music done with pop songs.

The track which accompanied the initial Grand Theft Auto 5 reveal trailer, Ogdens' Nut Gone Flake by The Small Faces, is so fat that it is the only song confirmed to be in the game.
The saddest part is I did not even think twice about it.

Like Gil Scott Heron's 'Home is Where the hatred is' amazing tune that I had never heard until I played GTA IV

To be honest the soundtrack in 4 was alright but a bit of a low point for me and the custom radio in the PC version was a bit of a god send but generally GTA has wicked stations so hopefully 5 will hit the spot to.

Loved doing the trucking jobs whilst listening to some country.

Yip, the well worn Reggae cliche was my biggest disappointment by far. More 'dub' or digital riddims next time, dont need to re-rehear any Bob Marley tracks again ffs!
Also, its L.A man!!!!. . . Madlib, MF Doom, J Dilla, Stones Throw records, Flying Lotus, Samiyam, Ras G Brainfeeder . . . soooo many possibilities!
so long as permission is granted of course
